The Lantern Guild is an alliance of independent developers who build free tools that help people spot scams, evaluate information, and use technology with confidence. Our Code of Ethics commits us to never selling, renting, sharing, or monetizing user data. This policy explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why, and what we do with it.
The short version: We only collect what you choose to give us through our two forms. We use it only to review membership applications and to send tool updates to people who asked for them. We do not sell it, run ads against it, or share it with anyone outside the Guild except the services we rely on to operate.
If you apply to join the Guild, we collect what you enter in the application form: your name, email address, organization or developer name, tool name, description, and URL, platform availability, funding and partnership disclosures, your ethics compliance confirmation, and anything else you choose to tell us.
If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. Signing up is optional and requires an explicit opt-in.
Like nearly every website, the platform that hosts these pages may record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed. We use this only for basic site operation and aggregate visitor counts. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking on this site.
This website and its forms run on the Causealytics platform, operated by Causealytics, a founding member of the Guild. Form submissions and email list records are stored there. We may also use standard email and productivity services to review applications and send updates. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only:
Approved members are listed publicly on this website with their organization name, tool, and website link. We will confirm what will be shown before listing you.
You can leave the updates list at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us at the address below. We will remove you promptly.
Our forms are embedded from app.causealytics.com. Animation libraries on this site are loaded from the cdnjs content delivery network, which may log requests. Links to member tools and member websites lead to sites operated by those members, who are responsible for their own privacy practices. Each Guild member's tool has its own privacy policy; this policy covers only this website.
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we will honor those requests as well.
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced to the updates list.
